  • MOLLY

Molly is an assumed female Timneh around 22 years old. She's stick tame and very quiet, mostly liking to hang out on her cage and observe. She chases men and children so needs a woman focused home. Molly is now stepping up for most women she knows, including one of our volunteers! She still doesn’t prefer a pet on the head but is SO much better with stepping up than when she arrived.

She thrives on fresh foods and some pellets, and always enjoys a good dried fruit treat. She is already pretty friendly and not neophobic like many Greys, and we are looking for a home experienced with training-specifically somebody familiar with operant conditioning, clicker training, parrot kindergarten, or other fear free forms of training, and somebody who can dedicate hours to her. She is going to be a fabulous companion for anyone looking to dedicate a lot of time to her.

  • PACO & POLLY

Paco (right) and Polly (left) are a pair of 25ish year old Congo Greys, both suspected male. They’ve been together in the same home since they were 3 months old and as such, are still adjusting to their new environment. Paco was the “man’s bird” and Polly the “woman’s bird”, but they both step onto a stick for anyone. Polly so far has been the more forward bird despite being generally more neophobic, and steps onto pretty much anyone offering an arm. Paco hasn’t stepped onto an arm yet except when he’s already on the floor and is overall maybe a bit more relaxed in temperament. He also has a bit of a potty mouth… These guys were extremely well loved and socialized, but didn’t have very good care in terms of food or caging. They will wander around on the floor if left unsupervised and may chase your toes. Since their human mom passed away, they haven’t gotten as much handling as they used to, and I think Polly takes advantage of that with being rather nippy. She seems to nip to get a reaction out of people despite not being stressed or overstimulated. We think it’s a combination of that and communicating where she wants to go, but sometimes they can both be a bit rude and have quite the attitude! They’re pretty gentle birds, but would be best with someone who has experience- I wouldn’t place these guys with a beginner to larger birds.
