  • Abi Hutchison

    Co-founder, Landscape Wizard

    -Program development

    -BA political science, MA history University of Iowa

    -Owner/operator of High Prairie Fibers

    -Abi is instrumental in designing programs and ideas for enrichment and natural dietary supplements. She also is entirely in charge of our Landscape Restoration Program.

  • Pat Hickman

    Secretary/Treasurer

    -Pat started volunteering weekly since 2016, and has been a great asset and friend ever since.

    -She has four parrots including a CAG adopted from the rescue.

    -She worked as an accountant for Unitypoint Healthcare for over 30 years.

    -Outreach and Community Service Focused

    -BS Art and Special Education, Mount Mercy CR and Edgewood College Madison WI

    -Jessie began volunteering with the intent of finding a buddy for their first parrot, and ended up becoming an all purpose wing man.

    -Currently supervised by 6 parrots, 4 from IPR.

  • Dr Jennifer Bock-Vanaria: Visiting Veterinarian

    Board Member

    -BS from Augustana, DVM University of Illinois: Champaign-Urbana, AVCA Health Pioneers Institute

    -Began volunteering as part of her training for veterinary medicine.

    -Comes once a month to work on beak and nail trims, general wellness exams, intake exams including bloodwork, chiropractic care, and diet advice for enhancing wellness and health.

  • Sarah Kadlec: Staff

    Parrot Welfare Manager

    -Started volunteering in early 2017, and became staff in 2018. They are the full time manager and responsible for all daily maintenance, feeding, and rescue operations.

    -They banded wild birds and cared for a macaw after college, then volunteered at Oasis Sanctuary in Arizona in 2017. They have always surrounded their life with birds.

    -Reptile, amphibian, and invert enthusiast

    -Owned by 5 birds; 4 parrots from IPR and one dove.

  • Kaitlyn Anderson: Intern

    Social Media Coordinator

    -Started volunteering/interning in May 2024 and has been a very loyal member of the flock since. Currently is no longer interning, but still comes by from time to time.

    -She has a BS in Biology and Public Health from Augustana College with a career towards vet med.

    -Is owned by an adorable 12 month old silver lab named Dakota James.
