Disclaimer: Cockatoos are typically not suited for people without large bird experience.

  • SAMMY

Sammy is a male Citron around 44 years old. Of the history we know, he was a breeder bird strictly for a lot of his life, never being handled. in 2010, he was only handleable with welding gloves. He is at the point where he will sit on the shoulder of someone he trusts, if they have his yellow towel. He doesn’t like hands but is now showing willingness to be pet, with adequate signaling and by people he knows. He will do best in a home with only a few other birds. Sammy really enjoys head scratches, often turning his head so you can reach other parts. He is pretty nervous about leaving his cage with so many other birds around.

  • ZEKE

Zeke is a 26 year old male Goffin’s cockatoo. He has shown interest in women and is reported to hate men. He has plenty of tricks up his sleeve, so don’t let his cute face fool you... He’s a clown who likes to talk and fly around. Zeke is curious about birds so we think he would do okay under very close supervision. He totally loves to snuggle once he’s used to you, but has zero boundaries and is known to scream until he gets his way. Because of this and his aggression towards men, we’re careful about where we will place him. Zeke is a high energy bird and would be best with someone who is able to manage his behaviors and allow him freedom without putting others at risk of being hurt… He’s been known to actually fly at men or bite the person he’s on in defense.

  • OSCAR

Oscar is a 50+ year old male Moluccan. Sadly his owner passed away, but she cared deeply for him. For a senior, Oscar is in good shape. He does pluck his feathers and has a chronic wound on his neck. We've weighed the options with collaring him and the stress of that was significant on Oscar, so we've opted to treat his wound and watch it carefully. He is as shy as a bird can get, often showing defensive posturing just by being close to him. He needs a lot of time and stability to become particularly friendly. He LOVES to romp around the bottom of his cage and yell in the morning, chew up his soft pine toys, and talk. His favorite phrases are "hi oscar", "who are you" and "whatcha doin". He loves a pistachio as a treat! He is also extremely dusty so a strong air purifier is necessary. Won't you take a chance on a boy like Oscar? ♡

Oscar has recently undergone a trial of anti-psych meds and it has seemed to majorly improve his quality of life. This small dose of medication will likely be a long term thing, as it helps keep him from mutilating his neck.

  • MARLON

Marlon is a 16 year old male Moluccan Cockatoo who just arrived. We’re still figuring out his personality, as what was written about him vs what we’re seeing is very different. He’s shown himself to be quite interested in people and seems to enjoy being around us, even accepting head pets. He has no interest in stepping up onto an arm yet but he’s not aggressive when we ask him to-he just doesn’t comply yet. We don’t push him as he is brand new. We will have to take some time and see how his true personality shines in the coming weeks. Moluccans are known to be the loudest parrots on earth, and I’ve met few Moluccans that didn’t fit the bill. :-)

  • MAX

Max is a 19 year old male Lesser-sulfur. He is dangerous around men and difficult around women. He will need a home with no other animals, a single woman who is very skilled around cockatoos, and the understanding that he may never be safe to handle regularly. All of the warnings aside, he is a ton of fun and super cute. He will accept pets in exchange for a cheese-it cracker.
